Communicating with families and patients in hospice is a difficult skill to master. This scenario-based learning was created to give new nurses the opportunity to practice these interactions in a low stakes environment. I utilized my experience as a hospice nurse to create this course.

This course is an adjunct to Sam’s Journey (above). Reinforcement of concepts through microlearning modules offers the learner an opportunity to practice spaced repetition of the skill. This lesson is planned as a 6-8 week series of micro-scenarios. I utilized my experience as a hospice nurse to create this lesson.

Microlearning is a valuable tool in the instructional design arsenal. This course includes several drag and drop activities designed to introduce the IDT grad student to the fundamentals of microlearning. The basis for the course is the book “Microlearning: Short and Sweet” by Kapp and Delefelice.
